La Facultad de Ciencias Sociales tiene como una de sus prioridades la internacionalización. Un indicador utilizado en los procesos de acreditación, es el dictado de cursos en inglés.
Se busca ampliar el alcance de alumnos potenciales, acompañando la oferta de estos cursos con procesos de virtualización. Es un entrenamiento también para estudiantes nuestros que participan en intercambio con universidades extranjeras y/o buscan estudiar en el exterior. Además, facilita la dinámica con estudiantes de intercambio, en materias que son de su interés.
Por esas consideraciones, este semestre 2013-1 se está impulsando una experiencia piloto en la Facultad. Se ofrecerán cursos dictados en inglés en la Especialidad de Economía. Estos son:
ECO-355 Temas en economía 1 – Corporate Finance.

This course will focus on the theory and practice of modern corporate finance. The key issue will be the firm’s capital structure and payout decision. We will see that under certain assumptions, this decision is irrelevant, this is the Modigliani and Miller Theorem. We will then loosen these assumptions to see when it may be better for firms to issue debt rather than equity, or to repurchase shares rather than pay out dividends. We then will learn about options and derivatives and apply this to value both equity and risky debt. We will also study special cases such as the debt overhang scenario, contingent capital issuance and real options. In the last part of the course we will review recent international trends in standards and regulation on capital structure and dividend payouts.
ECO-356 Temas en economía 2 : International Economics – Real and Monetary Issues.

The main purpose of the course in to study the two key economic phenomena of the last 20 or 30 years, i.e., the globalization and financialization processes, having previously made a balance of both the real and monetary theory of international economics. The results of these issues will then help us understand the continued financial crisis in rich countries, and the importance of a reform of the international monetary system.
ECO-328 Temas en economía y ciencias sociales 1 : Microenterprise and microfinance.

The main purpose of this course is to discuss the relationships between microenterprises and microfinances, and how these interactions shape the role that economic policies play. The analysis will be focus on Latin American countries, in general; and in particular, in the case of Peru.
